Sustainable futures

Sustainability and innovation are ingrained in everything we do at Schréder. We collaborate closely with our customers from day one to develop robust and long-term solutions to meet the challenges they face while adding value with a positive, lasting impact on society and the environment.

Sustainability has always been one of Schréder’s four fundamental values.
We operate a sustainable business by exploring every aspect of our operations, preserving resources and reducing energy requirements with low-carbon technologies.
We have built our reputation on constantly rethinking our solutions to minimise our ecological footprint and those of our customers while meeting the expectations of communities worldwide.

Better lighting with less energy

Lighting better with less energy

The greatest impact of a luminaire, from an environmental point of view, lies in its operating phase, and more specifically, in the amount of energy consumed.
We are constantly developing new technologies to reduce energy consumption to a minimum (LED technology, optimised optics, control solutions, solar panels…).
We enable our customers to implement energy efficient solutions that help communities to feel safe, secure and at ease.

Schréder builds its luminaires to last over time with same performance

Long-lasting products

Throughout our history, our products have always been engineered to last over time. Water, dust, impacts, vibrations, heat, wind, … everything is measured and tested to ensure that our luminaires withstand the harshest climatic and environmental conditions with the longest possible lifetime. Indeed, many of the lighting solutions we installed back in the 1970s are still working.
We are also committed to reducing the volume of materials used in manufacturing to preserve resources and maximising the use of sustainable and recyclable materials such as aluminium and glass.

Schréder puts its products through the loop to assess environmental impact.

PEP

In 2010, to provide our customers with credible transparent information on the environmental impact of our road and decorative ranges of luminaires, we introduced the PEP (Product Environmental Profile).
Developed in collaboration with an independent agency (in accordance with the principles of ISO 14040: 2006), the PEP summarises the luminaire’s life cycle assessment, by examining its environmental impact throughout its lifecycle, from raw material extraction to end of life.
The PEP is available upon request to all customers to help them prove compliance with regulations and reassure the community of their commitment to minimising their ecological footprint.

Circular economy

The circular economy is a powerful new paradigm, one that ends wasteful practices and keeps assets at higher value for longer. It drives us to reduce our use of raw materials, reuse more, fix and upgrade, ultimately recycle and above all think intelligently about our use of resources.
In 2019, as a sign of our commitment and to be completely transparent with our customers, we launched the Circle Light Label for our luminaires. This label acts as a circular indicator for our customers. It clearly designates products that are optimised for circular economy through 12 objective criteria to provide greater visibility and control over responsible sourcing.

For all types of manufacturing facilities, Schréder has a lighting solution to ensure safety and reduce operating costs

BREEAM

We encourage our customers to think strategically about sustainability, co-creating solutions that improve their performance against a wide variety of sustainability criteria. By drawing on our long experience in designing high-performance, low-energy spaces, we can deliver lighting solutions with all the necessary documentation to help our customers achieve BREEAM certification.
This certification brings tangible business benefits. It will not only reduce operational costs thanks to lower energy and maintenance bills but it will also increase the value of the property and improve well-being for users, which can lead to higher productivity and lower rates of absenteeism in workplace environments.

Whatever the project, we believe real sustainability brings value not cost. When we see a strong potential for positive change, we help our customers deliver their aspirations.
