Circle Light Label

A more sustainable, brighter future is a priority for everyone. At Schréder, we have always developed responsible lighting solutions to preserve and enhance landscapes.
In 2019, we launched the Circle Light Label with transparent criteria to help our customers adopt a circular economy and drive a positive future for all.

Benefits of a circular economy

A circular economy is mainly defined in opposition to the traditional linear economy: take, make and dispose. In a circular economy, products are part of a value network where they will be used for as long as possible. Then, depending on their characteristics, they can be reused, refurbished, upgraded or recycled.
This leads to increased efficiency, reduced operating costs, greater resilience and a lower ecological footprint.

It’s in the DNA

Schréder has always designed products and services with sustainability in mind - it’s simply what we do. Indeed, many of the lighting solutions we installed back in the 1970s are still working.

We take circular economy into account, right from the offset. From the concept phase, design guidelines will not only take into account the production and environmental impact of our luminaires. They will facilitate the removal of components and increase the standardisation of parts and the materials separability once its operating life is over.

Circle Light

It is in this constant quest to innovate and be completely transparent with our customers, that we launched the Circle Light Label. It clearly designates products that are optimised for circular economy without compromising on the quality.

We analyse our luminaires to evaluate their potential circularity through 12 objective criteria in 5 categories:

  • Performance
  • Maintenance
  • Refurbish
  • Non-destructive disassembly
  • Recycle.

More detailed information on these criteria can be found in the Circle Light brochure.

The luminaires are rated with a comparative scale from 1 star (least circular) to 4 stars (most circular).

To support our customers in making an informed choice and developing a truly circular economy, only luminaires with 4 stars are promoted by us with a Circle Light Label.

It is a sign of our commitment. It provides greater visibility and insights so that our customers can develop a circular economy while creating more socially cohesive and biodiverse urban environments.
